Ardbeg Distillery

Ardbeg Distillery is a Scotch whiskey distillery located on the south coast of the island of Islay, in the Inner Hebrides. The distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and produces a peat-dominated whisky, typical of Islay.

In 185 John Macdougall obtains a license and establishes Ardbeg Distillery as a legitimate trading company.

The village of Ardbeg had a population of 200 at its peak in the 19th century. Today, Ardbeg has fewer than 20 inhabitants. Or the "lucky few," as we like to call them.

The story of Ardbeg is that of an irrepressible spirit that survived against all odds until finally emerging as "without a doubt, the best distillery on Earth."

Ardbeg's new still will be completed in March 2021, doubling its capacity from two stills to four.

After 13 whisky-filled years at the helm, Micky Heads retires and hands over the hydrometer and high-visibility jacket to Colin Gordon, the new manager of the Ardbeg distillery.

Ardbeg Ten Years wins the World Whisky of the Year award 2018 .
