ZARIHS Shiraz 2020
Description
ZARIHS Shiraz 2020 is one of the great jewels of Bodegas Borsao in the D.O. Campo de Borja, and its name is no coincidence: Zarihs is Shiraz backwards, a nod to the Australian philosophy that inspires this wine.
Made with 100% Syrah grapes from vineyards planted in 2002 in the foothills of Moncayo, between 350 and 600 meters of altitude on limestone soils. The Cierzo, the typical northwest Aragonese wind, ventilates the grapes more than 200 days a year, providing freshness and unique personality. Fruit of the collaboration between the Spanish winemaker José Luis Chueca and the Australian Chris Ringland, a world leader in Shiraz.
Vinification begins with maceration for 4 to 5 days, followed by fermentation for 15 to 20 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Subsequently, 40% ages for 12 months in American oak barrels and the remaining 60% matures in stainless steel, achieving a perfect balance between fruit and wood.
Intense red-purple color. On the nose, concentrated aromas of blackberries, ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, coffee and subtle hints of smoke and vanilla. In the mouth it is powerful, unctuous and enveloping, with ripe and soft tannins and a persistent finish with smoky memories.
Recognised as one of the Top 100 wines in the world by Wine Spectator (ranked 28, 2020) and one of the best Syrahs in the world in the International Syrah du Monde Competition. With 91 Parker points and 92 Peñín points.
Ideal for barbecues, roast lamb, grilled meats, aged cheeses and hearty stews. Serve between 16 and 18°C.
